Hi everybody,
While I have been a little busy of late to do many reviews and musings, I have found time to tend to the site: Not only will you notice a slick and very green new look, very much in the style of MacOS, you may also spot a new heading on the page listed as Forum. I am now confident that the site has all the functionality it needs to grow into a great site for open source news, reviews, information and discussion.
Discussion, of course, is the keyword here, and while you were all able to post replies and comments to my posts and reviews before, there was nowhere for you to air your views on the things that matter to you. Enter the Forum ,and everything it offers. It uses the same login as the comments, so if you sign up for the forum, you have signed up for the whole site, and your username, nickname (and in the near future, your avatar) are all rolled out site-wide. There is still no need to sign up to the site if you just want to post a comment, allowing the casual user to contribute without expecting too much from them either.
Consider this a sign of things to come; I intend to expand the site soon to include other contributors who have shown good promise by way of general interest and writing style. As you can see there are no adverts on my website - as it is not a profit making venture, there is no money available to share, so your contributions would be a labour of love for the time being. I also assure you that if I ever did add adverts in the future they would be small, out of the way, and would not be detrimental to site functionality.
To sign up as a new user, hit the link on the right under “Meta”, that reads Login. At the bottom of the resultant page there is a “register” link, where you can sign up to the site. Your details will not be sent on or sold to any marketing or spam companies.
Let me know what you think in the forum, make some suggestions, or jot down some musings of your own which may be posted to the site with full credit if they are either amusing, pertinent or poignant.
I look forward to building the site up more, and I hope you come along for the ride!
Regards
Jon (Pensive - site admin, and chief pontificator)
